BOHEMIA, NY – On Monday, May 4, 2026, People’s Arc of Suffolk and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Long Island (BBBSLI) representatives gathered at the People’s Arc Educare Center to launch a new community clothing donation program.
The initiative is designed to raise funds for both People’s Arc of Suffolk’s vital programs and services and BBBSLI.
To mark the beginning of the partnership, participants formed a human chain to move bags of donated clothing from a transport van into the newly installed collection bin. These items were collected from various People’s Arc locations across Suffolk County.
The event included remarks from representatives of both organizations, who discussed how the collaboration will expand resources for people with disabilities and directly impact the success of the BBBSLI donation bin program. Following the ceremony, attendees toured the Educare Center and visited the school’s sensory room.

How to Participate
The clothing bin, located at 45 Crossways East Road in Bohemia, will collect gently used clothing on an ongoing basis.
The community is encouraged to drop off gently used clothing and textiles at the Educare Center collection bin. This program provides a sustainable funding stream to ensure students continue to have access to specialized educational resources.
By donating, community members directly contribute to the enhancement of programs and facilities for People with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Suffolk County.
