Celebrating Excellence: Karina Saenz Named 2026 Long Island DSP of the Year!

We are thrilled to announce that our very own Lead Direct Support Professional, Karina Saenz, has been selected as the NY Alliance Long Island Region DSP Winner for the prestigious NY Alliance & Regional Centers for Workforce Transformation (RCWT) Annual DSP Award!

Karina’s dedication, boundless creativity, and unwavering passion bring extraordinary energy to our Bohemia Day Habilitation program every day. Karina was nominated by Denise Giordano, Assistant Director of Day Habilitation, who witnesses Karina’s dedication and care firsthand each day. Karina’s remarkable impact was celebrated during the annual virtual DSP Conference awards session on Wednesday, September 9th. Along with well-deserved regional recognition, Karina received a $200 Virtual Visa Gift Card in honor of her exceptional contributions.

“Karina is the definition of a shining star who continuously thinks outside the box to design inventive, meaningful opportunities for the people we support. To celebrate Pride Disability Month, she spearheaded a monthlong Day Hab Olympic Games where classrooms created their own banners and torches, voted on homeroom representatives, and competed to Olympic music for gold, silver, and bronze medals. She was also the driving force behind bringing karate classes with Sensei George to Day Hab, giving people the opportunity to suit up in their GI, earn degree belts, and build confidence through martial arts.” – Denise Giordano, Assistant Director of Day Habilitation

With an infectious smile and a deeply compassionate heart, Karina works tirelessly to ensure that the people supported at People’s Arc of Suffolk have every opportunity to explore, grow, and thrive. She brings purpose, advocacy, and joy to our community every single day.

Please join us in extending a huge congratulations to Karina Saenz on this well-deserved honor! Thank you, Karina, for your leadership, dedication, and heart.
