Enriching Lives.

At People’s Arc of Suffolk, our programs are designed to support people with intellectual and developmental disabilities at every stage of life. From early childhood through adulthood, we provide personalized services that promote independence, dignity, and meaningful community inclusion.

Whether someone is building daily living skills, exploring employment opportunities, or receiving support at home, our programs are centered on individual strengths, goals, and potential.

CONTACT

Adult Day Habilitation

Our Day Habilitation Program provides people with the necessary services and supports to pursue their personal interests, learn valuable life skills and attain their goals.

People’s Arc aims to assimilate the individuals served in our Day Habilitation Programs into their local communities. Staff members set up and accompany day trips, volunteer projects at many Long Island-based charities, and work directly with select individuals to help them attain employment through People’s Arc of Suffolk’s Vocational and Supported Work Programs.

Senior Day Habilitation

People’s Arc of Suffolk’s Senior Day Habilitation provides meaningful and functional activities for older people who need a change of pace.

Most individuals served in our Senior Day Habilitation Program have “retired” from other traditional services. The support provided to our seniors at People’s Arc focuses on assisting a person to maintain their independence, productivity, and purpose.

To keep the program fun and engaging, seniors choose from a list of activities each day including arts and crafts, bingo, golf, and a vast array of community activities and local events.

Program Without Walls

Program Without Walls (PWW) is a community-based program for people ages 21 years and older with developmental disabilities. People enrolled in PWW learn new skills, build relationships, and develop self-esteem through volunteerism. Direct Support Staff assists people in volunteer and recreational activities at various art galleries, parks, department stores, museums, restaurants, fitness clubs, and with local community partners and organizations.

For some people participating in Program Without Walls, these opportunities to engage with community members and enhance their skills have sparked an interest in seeking additional employment services.

Children’s Services

It’s amazing what a child can achieve with the right teachers in the ideal environment.
We recognize each students potential and the need for multilayered educational opportunities, that reflect what a students needs are now, and guide them and their families to prepare for further education, future employment and a life that reflects their dreams, hopes and aspirations.

Here at People’s Arc of Suffolk’s Educare Center, we understand the importance of the early years in a child’s learning and development. Our model consists of a continuum of services throughout the child’s adolescence, and prepares students for further education, future employment and a life of self-sufficiency.

Respite Programs

Arc Adventures: Exploring Art, Music, Sports and More!

While it’s rewarding to care for others, it can also be exhausting. Family members who care for a loved one with a developmental disability can sometimes need a break. Respite services provide temporary relief from the demands of caregiving, which can help reduce overall family stress. This enables families to better meet the needs of their loved one with a developmental disability.

  • Every day 7 days a week we will learn and have fun In this Respite Adventures where we explore creative expression with art, music, and sports fun!
  • Our Respite programs are led by trained staff who keep participants safe, supported, and engaged through meaningful peer interaction and structured activities like arts and crafts, music, games, exercise, sports, and community outings.
  • Classes are processed-based and developmentally appropriate.
  • People’s Arc of Suffolk offers site-based Respite at our Bohemia location, giving individuals with I/DD opportunities for social, recreational, and enriching group activities while providing caregivers a temporary break.
