The greens were pristine, the weather was spectacular, and the energy was unmatched at this year’s Golf Classic. Thanks to our incredible community, sponsors, and players, we didn’t just host a fantastic tournament—we made history and raised an astounding $157,000 to support our ongoing mission!
With 135 golfers hitting the course, the day was packed with great swings, friendly competition, and immense generosity. But beyond the scorecards and prizes, the true highlight of the day was the deep connection to our mission, highlighted by two remarkable milestones on the course.
A Historic First on the Green
This year’s tournament featured a truly unforgettable moment: our first ever program 4 foursome.
Four of the people we support stepped onto the course to play right alongside the tournament golfers for a 9 hole game. For the past year, the Metropolitan Golf Association (MGA) has been hosting adaptive golf clinics for the people we support, introducing them to the game, building confidence, and honing their skills. This partnership has been exceptionally impactful because MGA also dedicated time to running Saturday clinics throughout the year with our Respite program. This was a massive milestone for us, as Respite was integrated into our agency programming around that very same time.
That year of dedication, practice, and teamwork led directly to this beautiful moment on the course. Stamatos Gagas has been absolutely essential in building this program from the ground up, and he brought the group out to the tournament, getting a front row, close up view of the team fully enjoying the course. Joining our foursome were two MGA staff members, who golfed right alongside them to celebrate how far this partnership has come. Seeing the inclusion and pure talent on display was a powerful reminder of what happens when barriers are broken down.
Growth on the Grass: The Second Annual Clinic with Golf Pro Iain Wilson
The excitement didn’t stop with the tournament. We were thrilled to host another fantastic opportunity for our day program participants to experience the beautiful grounds of Stonebridge and spend the day with us.
Iain Wilson, Head PGA Professional, led our second annual golf clinic, welcoming over 15 people to the grass, which is a turnout that more than doubled last year’s attendance! Beyond learning the game, our participants loved soaking up the country club experience, including enjoying a delicious free breakfast and lunch.
Having our programs join us for this special day means everything to us. At the end of the day, they are the reason we do what we do, and sharing the day with them on the beautiful greens of Stonebridge brought our mission full circle.
