The sun was shining, the course was full, and the energy was electric as People’s Arc of Suffolk hosted its Annual Golf Classic — a sold-out event at Stonebridge Country Club that brought together more than 150 golfers in support of inclusive programming and vital upgrades across our services.
But this year’s outing had an especially meaningful highlight: for the first time ever, people we support joined the action on the green — and they came ready to learn, laugh, and show off some serious golf potential.
Thanks to the generosity and heart of Golf Pro Iain Wilson, three participants were given the opportunity to receive one-on-one coaching in the basics of golf, including form and swing techniques — all under the sunny skies of a perfect June day.

Not only did Iain donate his time, but he also made the experience extra memorable by gifting each person a golf pro hat, helping them truly look and feel the part. The pride on their faces — and the joy in their swings — were unforgettable.
This experience wasn’t just about hitting golf balls. It was about inclusion in action. It was about showing that every person deserves the chance to participate, learn something new, and feel celebrated in their community.
The day was also a moment to honor Christina Goerler of LDI for her outstanding support and partnership. Thanks to our sponsors, supporters, and players, the Golf Classic successfully raised funds that will directly support upgrades to our essential programs — helping us continue to empower the people we serve every day.
